LCD03 and ASCii

Postby HiQ » Tue Mar 29, 2011 8:42 pm

Hi all

progress on the LCD is great thanks very much, however, I need to use some of the extended ASIii codes but after 127 I get blanks and then Chineese / Japaneese characters.

My question is this,

The data sheets provided for the LCD03 say that decimal 32 to 255 are ASCii, is it the Extended ASCii charset or not? if so is my LCD03 faulty?

Also, is there a way to change the welcome message or is it installed into the 16f819 on the LCD. Can it be re-programmed at home?

thanks in advance

Chris

Hi,

Codes 128-135 are the 8 custom characters you can build and from 136-255 they are assorted non-english characters. Have a look at the HD44780U data sheet to see what they are.
Currenty, the welcome message is a fixed part of the firmware.
