LCD 03 USB-i2c and Software

Does the LCD 03 when coupled with the USB i2c work with something like LCD smartie,
I would be considering buying one of these if it works. Are there any drivers or so?

what is the best prog lang to use with these? I am more familiar with VB but only through Access and I am presently attempting to learn C.

What version of C would you recommend for PC functionality with these LCD's...

We used to use Visual C++ V6, but that's no-longer available. We now use C# for our examples, but VB will work just as well.
You could also use the LCD03 in serial mode and connect it to your PC using the S27 module:
