Some info about CMPS10

Postby trementina » Tue Aug 09, 2011 11:02 pm

Hello,
thanks gerry for your answer in my previous post.

I have discovered that the problem in my device is hard iron from the batteries.
Now i use Duracell AAA Supreme rechargeable 1000mh, and have bad impact on the sensor.

I have two questions:
First: what is better? the calibration procedure of the CMPS10, or calibrating the raw data of the mag and accel?

Second: i am already trying to calibrate the raw data (following the notes of the great AN3192 ST document) , but the values seems non to be consistent
with the datasheet and the position of chip on the pcb. According to the datasheet and the position of the chip, i should expect X front, Y left, Z up.
Can you tell me if i'm wrong?

Thanks

For the X,Y and Z orientation please refer to the ST datasheet: http://www.st.com/stonline/products/lit ... /16941.pdf

We would recommend positioning the compass away from interfering materials. The factory calibration should then provide sufficient accuracy.
