Open Source Programmable Embedded Color Vision Platform

Get full Documentation, Software and Source code direct from www.cmucam.org

The CMUcam3 providies a flexible and easy to use open source development environment that complements a low cost hardware platform. The CMUcam3 is an ARM7TDMI based fully programmable embedded computer vision sensor. The main processor is the NXP LPC2106 connected to an Omnivision CMOS camera sensor module. Custom C code can be developed for the CMUcam3 using a port of the GNU toolchain along with a set of open source libraries and example programs. Executables can be flashed onto the board using the serial port with no external downloading hardware required.

CMUcam2+

Price: £129.99 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%)

Quantity:

The CMUcam2+ consists of a SX52 microcontroller interfaced with a 0V6620 Omnivision CMOS camera that allows high-level data to be extracted from the camera's streaming video. Its primary function is to track and monitor highly contrasting color regions. It can also detect motion, provide color statistics, and transmit image information to a computer for additional processing.

The CMUcam2+ comes with a booklet that documents its connectors and basic setup. Visit the CMUCam2 website to find a PDF user manual, software downloads, a FAQ that includes a comparison of the OV6620 and OV7620, and other info.

When compared with our other CMUcam2 products, the CMUcam2+ has these important differences:
Thinner profile
15% lighter weight
Uses only the more capable OV6620 camera*
No level-shifter on board for more efficient connection to +5V controllers
Minimal packaging: does not include printed manual, AC adapter, or CD-ROM
Different connector arrangement with horizontal pins for easier stacking
* Since the OV6620 is mounted directly on the board, the CMUcam2+ can not be used in 'Slave Mode' (see manual).

NOTE:
As the board is designed to work with microcontrollers, it has a serial interface using TTL voltage levels (0-5V). When connecting the CMUcam2+ to a PC, you will need a USB to Serial or RS232 to Serial converter - see below. These connect directly to the CMUcam2+
